CORAL GABLES, FL, June 10, 2011– Becker & Poliakoff, a diversified commercial law firm with more than 125 attorneys in 13 Florida offices, New York City, New Jersey, Nassau (Bahamas) and Prague, today announced that attorney D. Andrew Byrne has earned certification from the Florida Bar in the area of Labor & Employment Law
Board certification is the Florida Bar’s highest level of recognition of an attorney’s competence and experience in one or more of the 24 areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. Only attorneys who have earned the Florida Bar’s “board-certification” distinction are allowed to describe themselves as legal specialists or experts in a specific field of practice.
Mr. Byrne is a litigator with more than 25 years of experience and has concentrated his practice as a first chair trial lawyer in labor and employment law, with significant experience in complex commercial litigation, land use, contract, construction, administrative, and appellate matters.
Mr. Byrne also regularly serves as a mediator focusing exclusively on Labor & Employment matters and has successfully mediated to settlement a multitude of cases including Fair Labor Standards Act class actions, Title VII and Civil Rights claims, whistleblower claims and the myriad of claims that arise in the work place.
Prior to joining Becker & Poliakoff, P.A., Mr. Byrne was a partner at Phillips Nizer, LLP and a principal at Cooper & Byrne, PLLC, a law firm he co-founded in Tallahassee, Florida. He received his JD degree from Vanderbilt University and Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Memphis. He is admitted to the Bar in Florida, New York and Tennessee.
