Professional Experience
Lee Weintraub is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar. Since passing the construction law board certification exam, he has served as a board certification exam course instructor. Mr. Weintraub is an experienced construction and commercial litigation attorney who is also a certified arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.

Consistently ranked among the top construction lawyers in Florida in surveys of attorneys and clients statewide, Mr. Weintraub has been recognized by Chambers USA - America's Leading Business Lawyers every year since 2003. He was also selected to be included in every edition of The Best Lawyers in America from 2006 through 2010  and was selected as a “Florida Super Lawyer” in 2007,  2008  and 2009 by Law & Politics magazine, which named Florida 's top lawyers as chosen by their peers.  In 2009, Florida Trend magazine named Mr. Weintraub one of the Florida Legal Elite, an honor bestowed on only the top 2% of Florida lawyers. Mr. Weintraub represents owners, contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, bond sureties, and other commercial entities in litigation, arbitration and transactions. Mr. Weintraub is a certified continuing education sponsor for contractors and frequent lecturer statewide, nationally, and internationally on construction-related topics. He also has extensive experience in non-construction commercial litigation involving contracts, corporations and other business entities, commercial torts, and creditor's rights.

Mr. Weintraub has:

  • Successfully prosecuted multimillion dollar defect and delay claims on behalf of a prominent local luxury condominium developer in an arbitration against multiple parties, including a performance bond surety, resulting in a favorable settlement to our client.

  • Defended and prosecuted construction lien, defects, delays and bond claims.

  • Successfully defended clients in license grievance proceedings in front of the Construction Industry Licensing Board and local licensing boards.

  • Handled the transactional aspects of the redevelopment of a major, highly visible retail and mixed use complex including zoning negotiations, licensure and contract drafting and negotiation on behalf of a large, international owner/developer.

  • Successfully defended corporations with elaborate and sophisticated asset protection and wealth preservation structures from creditors.

  • Represented nationally prominent clients in real property litigation and construction lien and bond claims.

  • Successfully defended a large national surety company against a multimillion dollar claim brought by a large international contractor, resulting in a court ruling awarding no money to the contractor.

  • Filed numerous construction license applications of various sorts with the Construction Industry Licensing Board and local licensing boards for qualifiers, financially responsible officers, transfers of license, qualification of multiple entities, and related applications.

  • Represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants in state and federal court, arbitrations and mediations.

  • Tried numerous lengthy cases before juries, judges and arbitrators resulting in verdicts, judgments and mid-trial settlements favorable to the Firm's clients.

Activities & Memberships
An active member of the legal and civic community, Mr. Weintraub served two terms as Chair of the Florida Bar's Construction Law Committee and chaired the Broward County Construction Law Committee. He also served as Chair for the 2000 and 2001 Florida Bar Construction Law Workshops and the chair for the first two years of the Florida Bar's Construction Law Institute. He is a member of the Executive Council of the Florida Bar's Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. He serves on the Board of Directors of the South Florida Chapter of Construction Financial Managers Association.
