Professional Experience
Christopher J. Thornton is an attorney in the Firm's Community Association Practice Group, where his practice is concentrated on representation of condominium, cooperative, homeowners’ and amenities associations, including marinas and golf clubs. His experience includes residential and commercial real estate transactions, banking and developer financing, and all aspects of land use and zoning. He has represented community associations, owners, and developers before state and local government in all phases of development and permitting, including rezoning, variance, conditional use, comprehensive plan amendments, development of regional impact, stewardship sending areas, formal interpretations, vested rights, impact fees, environmental resource permits, and sovereign submerged lands approvals. Mr. Thornton also has experience in environmental enforcement as an assistant general counsel with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Memberships and Activities
Mr. Thornton is President of the Duke Alumni Club of Naples/Fort Myers, a member and trustee of the North Naples United Methodist Church, a member of the Collier County Bar Association and 2008 chair of the Collier Bar Real Estate Section, a member of the Florida Bar Environmental and Land Use Law Section and Florida Bar City, County, and Local Government Law Section, and former director and president of the Boca Palms of Naples Homeowners' Association, Inc.
