Professional Experience
Kathy Rentas is an associate in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Ms. Rentas handles complex commercial litigation matters, including securities litigation and enforcement actions, internal and high-profile government investigations, class actions, merger and acquisition litigation and real estate developer defense matters. Ms. Rentas is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rentas was an associate in the New York office of Sullivan & Cromwell, LLP and the Miami office of White & Case, LLP.

Ms. Rentas’s significant matters include:

  • Lead Defense Counsel in Securities and Exchange Commission v. Pension Fund of America, L.C., et al.

  • Defense Counsel in Marcela Cordova, et al., individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated v. Lehman Bros., Inc., et al.

  • Class action defense team representing major telecommunications company in consumer class actions.

  • Defense team representing Fortune 50 investment banking firm in the analyst and IPO investigations conducted by Congress, the New York Stock Exchange, the Securities Exchange Commission and the New York Attorney General’s Office.

  • Team representing Fortune 100 media company in investigating and bringing merger and acquisition litigation involving software and accounting fraud claims.

  • Defense team representing the President of a New York brokerage firm in a securities fraud investigation conducted by the New York County District Attorney.

Honors and Awards
Ms. Rentas was recognized as one of the 100 Most Accomplished Blacks in Law in South Florida by ICABA, an organization committed to identifying accomplished black professionals and providing a platform to connect them and enable communications between them.
