Professional Experience
David Harris Halpern supervises the West Palm Beach office's assessment collection and foreclosure department. He serves primarily in the litigation and community association practice groups. He has broad experience representing condominium, cooperative, and homeowner's associations, along with landlord-tenant eviction matters.
Prior to joining Becker & Poliakoff, Mr. Halpern ran the Palm Beach County collection and foreclosure department for a mid-sized community association law firm. He represented Associations throughout Florida , working primarily for clients in Palm Beach County , the Treasure Coast , central Florida and southwest Florida .
Following law school, Mr. Halpern served as a staff attorney for the Fourth District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach . While working for the Appellate Court, Mr. Halpern handled all types of appeals and extraordinary writs, reviewing the record and advising the panel as to the applicable law. He also spearheaded the Court's inaugural diversity training program by working closely with the Supreme Court of Florida and representatives of the various circuit courts around the State.
Before accepting a Goodwin Scholar fellowship to attend law school, Mr. Halpern taught broadcast journalism and screenwriting courses at the University of Florida , where he earned his master's degree in political communication. Mr. Halpern is the author of 12 peer-reviewed research articles focusing primarily on topics such as information processing, information seeking, and persuasion theories.
