Professional Experience
Michael Góngora is a member of the Firm's Community Association Law and Litigation Groups and is the lead Community Association Litigator in the Miami office . His experience representing community associations includes handling various contracts, association declarations and disputes that may arise from these and other issues. He was a partner in his own firm in Miami Beach for several years before joining Becker & Poliakoff, P.A. where he also handled commercial, municipal and family law cases.
Mr. Góngora is a fully bilingual (Spanish/English) attorney and was a Certified Family Mediator by the Florida Bar.
Activities & Memberships
A very active member of Miami Dade County's civic, charitable, business and legal communities, Mr.. Góngora served on the Miami Beach City Commission, including as Vice Mayor. He is the Chair of the Miami Beach Latin Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board of Directors and Chairman of ECOMB - the Environmental Coalition of Miami Beach. Previously, he served as: Legal Advisor to CAMACOL, the Latin American Chamber of Commerce; and President of the Miami Beach Bar Association. Previously, Michael was a member of the City of Miami Beach Condominium Reform Taskforce; a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment; and a member of the City of Miami's Code Enforcement Board where he was also Vice Chair. . He also served as Special Magistrate for Miami Dade County's Value Adjustment Board presiding over issues relating to property tax appeals and as a Special Master for the City of Miami Beach over code enforcement. For all of his service, Mr. Góngora received a Key to the City of Miami Beach by city officials.
