Professional Experience
Carlos J. Gimenez is an attorney in the Firm’s Government Law & Lobbying Group. He has a full service government affairs practice including: legislative lobbying, government procurement, land use, zoning, code enforcement and permit expediting. A lifelong involvement in Miami Dade County political circles, Carlos has successfully guided multinational and local corporations through the maze of local governmental procurement process to help them secure government contracts in areas such as information technology, capital improvements and on-site concessions. He has represented developers in obtaining land use, zoning or other development approvals for various projects spanning from 1,000 foot towers to single family residential units. Carlos has also gained insights and understanding of the very technical issues relating to navigable airspace height restrictions that impact real estate developments with increasing frequency in urban areas. He has also represented various clients before local code enforcement boards. Increasingly, post development approvals have become more important as clients are in a race against time to go from approval to Certificate of Occupancy. As a result, Carlos has helped expedite permit approvals on behalf of his clients.

Carlos has also focused on the emerging issue of Workforce Housing. To that end, he has served as Co-Chair of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Workforce Housing Committee, a member of the Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez's Land Use Group and continues to be an advocate for nontraditional solutions to combat the dearth of affordable Workforce Housing. A native of Miami, Carlos has close personal ties to many of Miami Dade County’s elected and appointed governmental officials, most notably, his father, the Hon. Carlos A. Gimenez, who is a Miami-Dade County Commissioner, representing District 7.
